Matters Arising

It was noted that contrary to the minutes the league season had been extended beyond the date originally posted on the website. Paul explained that the committee had decided this was a wise course of action as teams had not been able to complete fixtures in the time allowed.

 Chair’s Report

P Stephens congratulated those successful schools and thanked all those who had helped throughout the year to make the football so competitive.

He praised Tony McCoy for his hard work on the website and thanked Nick and Paul for their hard work.

Secretary’s Report

Paul thanked everyone for their help throughout the year,

The provision of referees for the 7a nd 6aside tournaments had been a great help.

The finals were held at Southport Football Club and were a great success.

He stressed the importance of playing matches early in the season and returning results to the secretary.

He mentioned the fact it was disappointing a few schools had not completed their fixtures – one school withdrawing from the South league after just one fixture.

Colin Hill Birkdale explained why his chidren had made this decision and it was agreed to accomodate Birkdale Primary in the B team league where they could be more competitive.

Treasurer’s Report

Nick apologised that the cup and league medals had not yet arrived – due soon.

He reviewed the balance sheet and stressed that the bill for league and cup medals was nearly £600 and the support from the Sefton Sports Federation was greatly appreciated.

Donations had been sent to SFC stewards. S Hine was sent a gift for refereeing the finals.

He added that if funds allowed then they should be used to buy a B team league trophy.

He also offered to buy each team a new match ball.

 Election Of Officers

P Stephens was re-elected as Chair and the committee was drawn up as follows

A Bowen (Vice Chair), P Hooton (Secetary), N Hanlon (Treasurer),

A Bowen ( Results Secretary) , J Jackson, M. Pollitt, D Haynes, Lee Dumbell

League Rules

Please note it is the duty of all schools to complete fixtures on time.

If a school is being difficult about playing  a certain fixture then the SPSFA committee will award the match to the other team.

Cup Fixtures

It was decided to allocate certain times by which first and second round cup matches should be played. These to be posted on fixture lists.

Schools failing to meet their obligations to complete matches risked being thrown out of the competition by the SPSFA committee.

Formation Of Leagues And Cup Competitions

The leagues and cup competitions were drawn up. (see website).

Closing date for the playing of league matches April 25th 2008

 Any Other Business

K Blundell complained about the difficulty of arranging matches with certain schools in the North League.

Action - P Hooton to write to the schools concerned to remind them of their obligations to play matches on time.

Discussion centred on referees. It was agreed that only a member of staff of a school should referee. Parents should not referee matches.

Code of Conduct – All teachers should strive to ensure the children and their parents respect the referee. Fair play was evident in the vast majority of matches and it was the responsibility of teachers to encourage the correct behaviour at all times.

Photographs – Teachers should ensure parents do not take photographs without the permission of those involved.

The meeting ended at 5.15 p.m.

Many thanks to Pete and St Philips for their hospitality.
